Dr. Howard Baum is Board Certified (and re-certified) in
Internal Medicine and Endocrinology & Metabolism. He has been in
Private Practice as an Endocrinologist with special expertise in
Neuro-endocrinology since 1996.
Dr. Baum graduated from The University of Texas at Austin (Plan II
Liberal Arts Honors Program with the Highest Honors, 1983) and The
Johns Hopkins School of Medicine (1987.) He served as an Intern
(Medicine, 1987-1988) and then as a Resident in Medicine (1988-1990)
at the John Hopkins Hospital. He completed his training as a Clinical
and Research Fellow in Medicine (Division of Endocrinology) at the
Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School (1990-1993)
after which he was associated with the Clinical and Teaching Staff at
the Massachusetts General Hospital initially as an Instructor in
Medicine and later as a Clinical Assistant and then an Assistant in
Medicine. He served as a Staff Physician to the Neuro-endocrine
Clinical Center at the MGH from 1993 to 1996.
Dr. Baum is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of
Texas Southwestern Health Science Center at Dallas. He has been
recognized with Awards form several organizations including Phi Beta
Kappa, Alpha Omega Alpha, the Clinical Associate Physician Award of
the National Institutes of Health, among others. He is a member of
multiple medical organizations including the Pituitary Society, the
American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, The Endocrine
Society and the American Diabetes Association.
Dr. Baum is the author of multiple articles relating to his special
interests and is active in The Endocrine Society's national education
efforts and serves on the Board of Directors of the American Diabetes
Association, Dallas Chapter.
