Dr. Mark Altenau is a Board Certified Otorhinolaryngologist
with post-graduate Fellowship training and special competence in
Neuro-otology.
Dr. Altenau attended the University of Cincinnati for both
Undergraduate School (B.S. in Chemistry) and Medical School (M.D.). He
completed his Internship and General surgery Residency at
Presbyterian-St. Luke's Hospital in Chicago after which he served
with the U.S. Army in Viet Nam and Fort Sheridan, Illinois. He
subsequently completed his Residency training in Otorhinolaryngology
(ENT) at Vanderbilt University and the University of Texas Medical
Branch at Galveston.
His post-graduate Fellowship in Neuro-otology was completed at the
Los Angeles Foundation of Otology and the Otologic Medical Group
("House Group") after which he remained on Staff with this
pre-eminent group from 1974 to 1976. Dr. Altenau was appointed as
Associate Professor and Chairman of the Division of
Otolorhinolaryngology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical
School at Dallas where he served with distinction from 1976 to 1979.
He continues as a Clinical Associate Professor and has been in private
practice in Dallas since 1979. He is a published author in scientific
journals as well as an experienced researcher.
